Introduction
Solar Run ("we", "our", "us") is operated by Brian Lee Houston, a sole trader based in Australia. This privacy policy explains how we handle information in relation to the Solar Run macOS game and the Solar Run website (solarrun.tech).
Information We Collect
Solar Run is designed with your privacy in mind. The game does not require an account or login, and we do not collect any personal information through the game. Your save files stay on your Mac and are never transmitted to our servers. If you purchase the in-app unlock, the payment is processed entirely by Apple through the Mac App Store — we never see your payment details.
On our website, we collect information only when you choose to provide it:
- Mailing list — your email address, if you sign up. We use double opt-in: you're only added after clicking a confirmation link, and every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. We use your address solely to send news about Solar Run episodes and updates.
- Contact form — your name, email address, and message, used solely to read and respond to your enquiry.
- Beta forum — your email address, a username you choose, and any content you post (reports, comments, images, and optional profile details). Login uses one-time email links; we never store a password. Posts and comments are publicly visible on the forum.
This information is used solely to operate these features and is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing.
Cookies
The website sets a single session cookie, and only if you log in to the beta forum, to keep you signed in. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
Analytics
Solar Run does not use any analytics frameworks, tracking pixels, or usage telemetry in the game or on our website. We do not collect any data about how you play the game or browse our site.
Third-Party Services
We use Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES) to deliver the emails described above; your email address is shared with AWS only for that delivery. Web pages load fonts from Google Fonts, and forum editor pages load the Quill editor from the jsDelivr CDN — these providers receive your IP address as part of serving those files, as with any web request. Game purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.
Children's Privacy
Solar Run is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data Storage and Security
Your game data remains on your device under your control and is never stored on our servers. Information you provide through the website — mailing-list addresses, contact messages, and forum accounts and posts — is stored securely on our servers and used only to operate those features. You can unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time via the link in any email, and you can ask us to delete your forum account or contact-form data.
